Tentacles: a stained glass mosaic mural

Stained glass mosaic on 64 s.f. wall of a private home. This wall faces the Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier in Washington State. The client wanted an abstracted design that would suggest tentacles/kelp without being literal. There is the suggestion of an eye in the lower left corner, so it could be taken for an octopus, but there are also kelpy-seaweedy shapes and colors mixed in. This mosaic is full of surprises, with all kinds of unusual glass pieces incorporated. There are iridescent pieces, highly texured or mottled pieces, and some mirror. The project was fabricated on fiberglass mesh in my studio, then set into mortar on site. I used all Laticrete products: Titanium 257 and Platinum 254 thinset and Permacolor Select grout. This mosaic will withstand harsh Pacific NW weather for decades to come.
